Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia

So it turns out that my time in Thailand was not a whirlwind whatsover. That description does accurately depict my time in Australia so far. I took an overnight fly from Bangkok to Sydney (on which I barely slept) before heading out for a full day in Sydney with Kari (who I knew) and Candace (who I just met). I took in as many sights as I possibly could and even got in some night pictures of the harbor (there will be pictures....someday). It's hard for me to describe how much I enjoyed Sydney. I am definitely going to go back to visit as it had everything I've ever wanted in a city all within walking distance. Can't wait to see it again.

After that crazy day of walking 10km+, we got up nice and early and headed back to the airport to fly to Gold Coast (just south of Brisbane). From there we jumped in a rental car and drove down to Byron Bay. Most of the day was spent relaxing on or walking down the beach. Byron Bay is a relatively small town with a few main streets full of shops and restaurant. And it has one of the most wonderful beaches I've ever seen (more pictures for this too). I did wander out into the surf for the first time on this trip and got pounded for the waves and the massive current (the waves come around a point, so the current pushes you sideways). Tonight is laundry night, so I'm playing it cool by using the internet in the interim.

Anyways, I've been promising pictures for too long now, so here you go. It's not up the unreachable standard that I had created for myself and for that I'm sorry. There aren't enough hours in the days to post as many pictures as I was. Maybe when things settle down. We'll see. These photos aren't even of my current location. I had a backlog of photos from Thailand that I need to get through first. If you're desperate for more, check out my Facebook f you'd like. Anyways, pictures. These are the very best of the very best (at least you get quality over quantity).

  1. Moonlight, Ant and Patong are my Faves. Oh and don’t worry so much about updating so many photos on here and facebook. We enjoy them and all your updates but there is so much to do and see and time to relax that you shouldn’t be worrying about us! We do love it though, maybe just a few.
